
Position Title: Mental Health Clinician
Reports To: Executive Director
Status: Virtual service delivery for Mississippi-based clients
Hope Haven Children's Advocacy Center
Hope Haven CAC provides a child-focused, trauma-informed, multidisciplinary response to child abuse allegations and works collaboratively with law enforcement, child protective services, medical professionals, victim advocates, and prosecutors to ensure comprehensive care for child abuse victims and their families.
Position Summary
The Mental Health Clinician provides trauma-informed, evidence-based mental health assessment and therapeutic services to children and non-offending family members served by the CAC via secure telehealth platforms. This contract role supports Hope Haven's mission by delivering clinical care that meets the highest standards of professional practice and complies with the 2023 NCA National Standards of Accreditation (Mental Health Standard) while maintaining al professional, ethical, and legal requirements for remote practice.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Services
· Conduct thorough, developmentally appropriate mental health screenings and assessments for children/families referred by CAC staff or the multidisciplinary team (MDT).
· Provide evidence-based, trauma-focused assessment and treatment (e.g., TF-CBT, CFTSI, AF-CBT, PCIT, EMDR, CPP, PSB-CBT) consistent with NCA requirements for foundational training.
· Develop individualized treatment plans and deliver direct clinical services for trauma-related symptoms and behavioral health needs.
· Monitor clinical progress and adjust interventions as needed, documenting outcomes in client records.
· Collaborate with caregivers to build understanding of trauma, attachment, emotional regulation, coping skills, and secondary trauma effects.
· Refer to link out to community partners when specialized care beyond CAC capacity is needed.
Multidisciplinary Team Engagement
· Actively participate in the CAC's Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) meetings and case reviews to share clinical impressions and recommendations.
· Communicate effectively with MDT partners, contributing mental health perspectives to coordinated case planning.
Standards Compliance and Documentation
· Maintain documentation that demonstrates compliance with NCA's Mental Health Standard and related accreditation requirements.
· Ensure all clinical documentation is accurate, confidential, and in accordance with HIPAA, ethical, and professional guidelines.
· Assist with accreditation self-assessments, site review, preparations, and internal quality improvement related to clinical services.
Training, Outreach, and Education
· Stay current with developments in trauma-informed care and evidence-based clinical practices relevant to child abuse response.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education and Professional Credentials
Master's degree or higher in psychology, social work, counseling, marriage and family therapy, or a related clinical mental health field and independent clinical licensure (e.g., LCSW, LPC, LMHC, PhD/PsyD) with authorization to provide telehealth services to Mississippi clients.
Clinical Training
At least 40 contact hours of foundational trauma-focused, evidence-based treatment training appropriate for children who have experienced abuse (NCA-approved treatments or equivalent; may include training + consultation/supervision to total 40 hours).
Skills and Abilities
· Demonstrated competence in trauma-informed assessment and delivery of trauma-focused evidence-based interventions.
· Strong clinical documentation, assessment, and treatment-planning skills.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team setting.
· Cultural humility and ability to work sensitively with diverse populations.
· Comfort and proficiency with telehealth platforms, virtual communication, and remote workflow.
Preferred Qualifications
· Experience working in child advocacy centers, child welfare settings, or with MDT models.
· Certification or advanced training in specific trauma-focused modalities.
· Experience with outcome measurement systems and data-informed practice.
· Prior experience delivering therapy via telehealth.
Other Requirements
· Maintenance of professional licensure and continuing education.
· Compliance with background checks, confidentiality regulations and CAC policies.
· Reliable internet connection, private workspace, and secure technology suitable for telehealth.
Work Environment
This is a fully remote contract position. The clinician provides services through secure telehealth platforms and participates virtually in MDT case review meetings. Hope Haven CAC offers a supportive, collaborative, child-focused environment dedicated to best practices in trauma-informed care.
